About - CellMet Performance Health

CellMet was born over many conversations, a lot of reflection and a napkin at a particularly impassioned brunch! After years of working in research, CellMet's founder Dr Marita Wallace, wanted to start applying what she was discovering in the lab to the real world and after completing her Master’s in Dietetics, Marita has been able to do just that. CellMet is the next step in achieving Marita’s goal which is to empower individuals to achieve optimal health and performance through evidence-based nutrition strategies.

Along with her professional drive, Marita’s personal journey with nutrition and performance has had equal impact on CellMet’s creation and focus. As a high-performing athlete, mother and woman Marita’s life experience and roles have informed much of her research focus and resulted in her experimenting on her own nutrition more than once! Marita created CellMet to provide a dedicated space to pursue her passion areas of sport performance, women’s health, disability and chronic disease management (and where these areas overlap) through the translation of scientific research into practical nutrition advice.

Meet Our Expert

Dr Marita Wallace (PhD, APD)

Marita is a passionate researcher-come-clinician who is excited to bring the latest in metabolic and nutritional research to her clients to help them achieve their wellbeing and health goals. Marita achieved her PhD and first Post-Doctoral Fellowship at Deakin University, Melbourne VIC in exercise and nutrition. She then went on to complete a second Post-Doctoral Fellowship at the University of California, Davis USA.

During this time as a researcher Marita became interested in what came next, what happens when research is applied and people get to benefit from using the latest knowledge to affect their health and wellbeing? Her interest piqued, she went back to Uni (did she ever really leave?!) to gain her Master’s in Dietetics at Edith Cowan University in Perth, WA.

As a clinical dietitian, Marita has worked in community disability and hospital-based women’s health services, and is now very excited to bring Cell-Met to life to offer evidence-based nutritional support to her clients! Marita chose the name CellMet to convey her passion for cellular metabolism as a foundation of health, well-being and sports performance. She is very excited to bring her passion for research to clinical practice through CellMet to provide expert nutritional management.
